Showed my first TED talk of the year today and it wasn't even about science. Sunni Brown said Doodlers, unite! It was relevant, though, because doodling combines multiple learning modalities. I insist on students drawing on field trips, and tell them to pace and read aloud when trying to memorize something, in order to engage more of the body into the "thing being learned". Doodling constitutes visual literacy and:
"... has a profound effect on creative problem solving." (Sunni Brown)
The class then colored fossil similarities between continents while listening to history of continental drift.
